Most of what we do here is residential design, planting and maintenance.
Getting here: Southeast, just outside Lima.
Landscapes designed to be lived with for twenty years
When people plan to stay, the right approach changes. Plants get placed at mature size rather than crammed in for immediate effect, because in eight years the difference is a bed that still works versus one that has to be torn out. Structural elements — bed lines, hardscape, a specimen tree, evergreen mass — get decided first, and the flexible material fills in around them. Phasing works well on these properties too: drainage and hardscape first, structural planting second, lighting and finish detail last.
Allen County clay and bed preparation
The soil here is the same heavy lake-plain clay as most of our territory. The critical planting decision is not species — it is preparation. Digging individual holes in clay and backfilling with good soil creates a bathtub that slowly drowns the plant. Amending a broad bed area with compost worked into the top ten to twelve inches, and raising the bed grade a few inches so roots sit above the saturated zone, is what determines whether the bed is thriving in year three.
Front-entry impact
On a generous Elida lot the front entry does most of the visual work. A walkway at least four feet wide, beds deep enough that plants are not pressed against the foundation, a defined spade edge, and lighting on the entry and one specimen tree change a property completely. It is not a large project and it is the one we recommend most often here.
What Elida properties call us for
These are the services this ground actually needs, ordered by what the soil and terrain in Allen County demand rather than by what is easiest to sell.
- Landscape Design & InstallationA drawn plan before a shovel moves — so the beds, grades and plant choices still make sense in year ten.
- Mulching & Landscape Bed MaintenanceCrisp cut edges, correct mulch depth, and beds that stay clean instead of needing a rescue every July.
- Landscape LightingLow-voltage LED lighting that makes the yard usable after 5pm — which in Ohio is half the year.
- Lawn Fertilization & Weed ControlA season-long program built on what your soil actually tests at — not a generic five-step calendar.
- Lawn Mowing & Property MaintenanceWeekly mowing, trimming and edging on a schedule you can set your watch by — residential and commercial.
- Spring & Fall CleanupsThe two visits a year that decide how the rest of the season goes — debris out, beds reset, leaves gone.

Why Elida property owners choose us
This is our home ground
Elida sits inside the counties we work every week from Hicksville. That shows up most in winter, when distance decides whose driveway gets cleared first.
We fix the water before anything else
Every dollar spent on plants or hardscape sitting on ground that stays wet gets spent twice. On Allen County soil we diagnose drainage first — and often the honest answer is two downspouts rather than a system.
46 Google reviews, licensed and insured
Verbatim reviews from neighbours across the region, full coverage on every crew and machine, and financing available so a full plan can be built in one season.
One contractor for all four seasons
Landscaping April through November and snow and ice through the winter, from the same crews. The people who stake a drive in November are the people who mowed it in July.
