Landscaper in Maumee, OH

Maumee sits on the river of the same name with genuinely mature neighborhoods and a downtown that has kept its character. Property values here support real landscape investment, and the terrain gives us more to work with than most of Northwest Ohio.

Landscaper services in Maumee, OH: the ground is dense lake-plain clay that drains very slowly, so drainage and grade come before anything decorative. We work Maumee out of our shop at 7980 OH-249 in Hicksville, and the on-site estimate is free.

Where the ground falls toward the river, terracing and walls stop being decoration and start being the thing that makes a yard usable.

Getting here: Northeast on US-24, following the river.

Grade is an asset once it is structured

Lots that step down toward the Maumee valley have slopes that are dangerous to mow and impossible to plant. Terraced retaining walls convert that into level, plantable, usable space — often two shorter tiers rather than one tall wall, which can avoid the engineering requirement and looks better besides. The critical detail is spacing: terraces set too close together behave structurally as one tall wall and have to be designed that way, not treated as two independent short ones.

Mature landscapes that have outgrown their plans

Maumee's established neighborhoods have landscapes installed thirty and forty years ago by people who knew what they were doing — and those plants are now well past their intended size. Renovation here is about editing: removing what has gotten too big so the good material has room, hard rejuvenation pruning where the species tolerates it, corrected bed lines, and new planting in the gaps. It costs far less than starting over and looks established the day we finish.

Hardscape on river-terrace soil

Alluvial soil near the river can be well-drained at the surface with a high water table below, and it can also be inconsistent across a single lot. Both matter for hardscape. We over-excavate where subgrade is soft and add base rather than building on material that will consolidate later, and we detail drainage assuming saturated conditions rather than average ones.

Why Maumee property owners choose us

  • This is our home ground

Maumee sits inside the counties we work every week from Hicksville. That shows up most in winter, when distance decides whose driveway gets cleared first.

  • We fix the water before anything else

Every dollar spent on plants or hardscape sitting on ground that stays wet gets spent twice. On Lucas County soil we diagnose drainage first — and often the honest answer is two downspouts rather than a system.

  • 46 Google reviews, licensed and insured

Verbatim reviews from neighbours across the region, full coverage on every crew and machine, and financing available so a full plan can be built in one season.

  • One contractor for all four seasons

Landscaping April through November and snow and ice through the winter, from the same crews. The people who stake a drive in November are the people who mowed it in July.

Local Questions

Landscaping in Maumee: FAQs

Answers written for Lucas County ground, not generic advice from another climate.

The same things drive it here as anywhere in Ohio: access for a machine, how deep the hardscape base has to go, whether drainage has to be solved first, plant size at installation, and how much has to be removed before the new work starts. On Lucas County ground the base depth and the drainage answer are usually what separate two quotes. We give an itemised written number after seeing the property, and the visit is free.
